“Time Line Through History: NYC Immigration Over Time,” Mural at P.S. 340.
A collaboration project with the Lehman College Art Gallery, and the 2nd and 5th grade student and staff at P. S. 340 school. The program integrated Art with History, Social Studies, and Language arts, and used LCAG’s exhibitions, “Alien Nations” & “Tick-Tock,” as inspiration to encourage students at P.S. 340 to express creatively, and reflect on their individual culture, heritage, and values.

PS340 is an elementary school where 84 percent of the students are of Hispanic descendent, and the remaining percentage are of African American and other various backgrounds. As a Hispanic Latino immigrant woman, I was inspired to do this mural and teach children to embraced and appreciate their culture, ethnicity and uniqueness in a nation that has been founded by immigrants.
